Heavy rain brought by Typhoon Dolphin flooded an animal shelter in Taizhou, Zhejiang, leaving many dogs standing in floodwater.
Unable to move the cages and worried that the animals might go missing if let out, the shelter’s operators used wooden boards to give the dogs a dry place to stand above the floodwater.
The flooding also ruined the shelter’s stored dog food, forcing staff to urgently buy emergency supplies. Local animal health authorities are closely monitoring the affected animals for any signs of illness or death so that further action can be taken promptly.
