The First World Humanoid Robot Gameswere held at the National Speed Skating Oval “Ice Ribbon” in Beijing from August 14 to 17. Humanoid robot companies from Hubei’s Optics Valley—such as Optics Valley Dongzhi and Langyi Robotics—as well as the team led by Academician Liu Sheng from Wuhan University participated the game. Among them, Joint Representative Team of Beijing Dance Academy andOptics Valley Dongzhi won the first gold medal in group dance, scoring 92.54 points.
The World Humanoid Robot Gamesis the world’s first comprehensive sports competitionfeaturing humanoid robots as its primary competitors. This year’s event brought together 280 teams and over 500 intelligent robots from 16 countries across the five continents, competing in 538 matchesacross 26 events.

In the group dance event, nine “Photon”humanoid robots developed by Optics Valley Dongzhi performedwith alivedancer. The dancer played the role of a “General”while the robots—clad in3D-printed terracotta armor—became “Soldiers”. Striking the grand Jiangzhou drum, the troupe found their rhythmand shifted formations, effortlessly completing their choreographyin a vivid reenactment of “a general beating the war drum to lead his troops into battle.”
"Mastering this level of motion control in humanoid robots is a breakthrough for our team and the industry," said Lou Kaiqi, Deputy General Manager of Optics Valley Dongzhi. During rehearsals, the robots would lose balance and topple overwhen executing intense movements. In response, the team optimized both hardware and algorithms, from amping upthe power supply and drive motor’scapacity, to finetuning overallcoordination between upper and lower limbs. After continuous troubleshooting, theyultimately delivereda stable stage performance.
In the 100-meter sprint, the team led by Academician Liu Sheng from Wuhan University completed the race in 1 minute and 26 seconds with their "Tianwen-3" humanoid robot. This humanoid robot was end-to-end independently developed by over 10 teachers and students under Liu Sheng's supervision, with more than 90% of its core components sourced from Hubei. Currently, the team has foundedWuhan Shouzhi Innovation Technology Co., Ltd in Optics Valley for further research and developmentin robotics.
Additionally, NOETIX Robotics’N2 robot, equipped with Langyi Robotics’self-developed Smart Eye Perception Navigation System, emerged as the sole unit capable of self-navigation without manual remote control. In the 1500-meter track and field final, “Little Naughty”finished first in its group in 9 minutes and 28 seconds. After the race, Yang Hongcheng, CEO of Langyi Robotics, stated, “Collecting valuable data in this high-intensity, high-pressure competitive settings will hopefully allow us to optimize and iterateourtechnologyandaccelerate the industry’s transition from traditional pre-programming to fully autonomous operation.”
