暴雨倾盆，浊浪翻滚。一位赤膊青年紧攥竹竿，撑着皮划艇，在数百米宽的洪流中穿梭，转移被困群众。连日来，这段拍摄于6月19日的救援视频在网上广泛传播。画面中的青年叫杨炜林，25岁，湖北省恩施州来凤县翔凤镇活水社区居民。6月23日，杨炜林和同社区的张灿向极目新闻记者讲述了救援经过。
Amid torrential rain and muddy floodwaters, a shirtless young man, gripping a bamboo pole, paddled a rubber raft back and forth across raging flash floods that spanned hundreds of meters to rescue his stranded neighbors. Video footage of the ordeal captured on June 19th has since gone viral in recent days. The young man in the video is Yang Weilin, 25, a resident of Huoshui Community in Xiangfeng Town, Laifeng County, located in Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province. On June 23rd, Yang Weilin and his neighbor, Zhang Can, recounted details of the rescue to Jimu News reporters."

“18日晚上，雨跟瓢泼似的！”杨炜林回忆，19日清晨，来凤县境内的酉水河水位暴涨，河水漫过堤岸灌入沿岸民房。许多居民一觉醒来，发现浑浊的洪水已经漫过门槛，人们只能仓皇向高处撤离。其中，距酉水河岸数百米的活水社区，积水最深处超过2米，众多居民被困。
“The rain poured down like a waterfall on the night of the 18th!” Yang recalled. By the morning of the 19th, the You River in Laifeng County had swelled to the point of breaching its riverbanks, and homes were inundated with the subsequent flashfloods. Many residents woke up to find murky floodwaters already rising above their doorsteps, forcing them to retreat to higher ground. In one of the flooded areas, Huoshui Community, located several hundred meters from the You River bank, recorded flood levels exceeding 2 meters at their highest, leaving numerous households trapped.
暴雨来临前，杨炜林和父亲未雨绸缪，提前将他们钓鱼用的皮划艇转移到了社区地势较高的公路旁。19日上午9时许，眼见水位持续上涨，杨炜林找来一根3米多长的竹竿，和父亲一起火速赶往皮划艇存放处。
Prior to the downpour, as a precaution, Yang Weilin and his father moved their rubber raft to higher ground near the community road. At about 9 a.m. on the 19th, seeing the unrelenting rise in water levels, Yang Weilin grabbed a bamboo pole over 3 meters long and, together with his father, rushed to the location where their raft was stored.
当时，现场已有数十名被困群众焦急等待救援，其中不少是老人和小孩。杨炜林脱掉上衣，光着膀子，把皮划艇推入水中，开始摆渡第一批7位居民。他的父亲则留在岸边，协助居民登船。
At that time, dozens of stranded residents, many of whom were seniors and children, were anxiously awaiting rescue. Seeing this, Yang Weilin immediately sprang into action, pushing the raft into the water, and evacuating the first group of seven residents. Meanwhile, his father stayed on the shore to help others board the raft.
大约半小时后，同为活水社区居民的张灿，撑着自己的皮划艇赶来，加入救援队伍。积水区宽约300米，从上午9时到下午3时许，两位勇士往返40多趟，成功转移100多名被困群众。
About half an hour later, Zhang Can, also a resident of Huoshui Community, paddled his own rubber raft and joined the rescue effort. With the submerged area spanning about 300 meters wide, the heroic duo completed over 40 trips on their rafts between 9 a.m. and around 3 p.m., successfully evacuating more than 100 residents.
“到最后，手臂已经完全不听使唤了。”张灿说，由于积水深、流速快，他必须用尽全力撑住竹竿，才能稳住皮划艇的方向。看着岸上那一双双期盼的眼睛，他和杨炜林硬是咬着牙坚持到了最后。
“By the end, I couldn’t even feel my arms,” Zhang Can said. As the floodwaters were deep and fast-moving, he had to exert all his strength to grip the bamboo pole to keep the raft steady. Seeing the anxious faces waiting on the shore, both he and Yang Weilin pushed through their exhaustion to the end.
“回家后冲了个澡，就直接瘫在床上睡着了，直到晚上8点多钟才醒。”杨炜林告诉记者，这场持续6个小时的救援几乎耗尽了他们全部的体力，他们的手掌也被竹竿磨出道道伤痕。
“I took a shower when I got home and collapsed straight into bed. I didn’t wake up until after 8 p.m.,” Yang said. The six-hour rescue drained every bit of their energy, leaving their hands raw and blistered from gripping the bamboo poles.
活水社区党总支书记张潺介绍，25岁的杨炜林此前在浙江义乌从事物流工作，今年为照顾新婚妻子回到家乡经营水果摊；34岁的张灿是水电工。两人都是钓鱼爱好者，没想到平日休闲用的皮划艇竟在危难时刻成了救命工具。
According to Zhang Chan, Secretary of the Party General Branch of the Huoshui Community, Yang had been working in logistics in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, and returned this year to run a fruit stall and care for his newlywed wife. Zhang Can, 34, works as a hydropower technician. Both men are avid fishers, and neither could have predicted that their recreational rafts would be instrumental in saving lives during such a dire moment.
“得亏他们及时出手，两个人都是好样的！”社区居民代先梅说。
“Fortunately, they acted in time. They’re both true heroes,” said local resident Dai Xianmei.
