Wuhan sees rise in China-Central Asia freight train service

A freight train consisting of 55cars arrived attheKhorgos Porton June 12, 2025,after departing from Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province.It is expected toarrive inUzbekistanon June 17.  

Fully loaded with 110 standard containersofair conditioners, resin, non-woven fabric and other goods worth 23 million yuan,itis the43rd outbound trip made by the China-Central Asia freight train sincethe rail service began in Wuhan one year ago.It also marks a year-on-year increase of 72percent inoperating trips compared to previous scattered modesoftransportation.

Out of total,26trips shippinga total of 2,090 standard containerswith avalueof approximately 420 million yuanhave beenmade since the beginning of the year, doubling the year-on-year growth in service frequency.The outbound trips alone surged by 243percent.

In Aprilof the year, theChina-Central Asia freight train service from Wuhan was approved as a scheduled route, operating once weekly.So far, thefreight trains have connected Wuhan to 13 cities acrosseight Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
