每个星期六的上午9时，武汉汤逊湖边一栋闲置的小白楼里，就会响起民乐演奏声。10余名老人在这里认真排练，有二胡、笛子、唢呐、中阮、扬琴、琵琶，也有吉他、小提琴。
At 9 a.m. every Saturday, live folk music can be heard echoing from a small vacant white building by the Tangxun Lake in Wuhan. There, over 10 diligent elderly people rehearse with their musical instruments, ranging from the erhu, flute, suona, zhongruan, dulcimer, to the pipa, guitar and violin.
包括团长兼二胡琴师吴乐平在内，大家都来自玉龙岛社区民间乐团。为了准备今年春节前的几场公益文艺汇演，抓紧练习《扬州小调》《青稞美酒献亲人》等乐曲，或轻快，或激昂，令人陶醉。
All, including Wu Leping, head of this group of music enthusiasts and erhu pianist, are members the Yulong Island Community Folk Orchestra. In order to prepare for several public welfare cultural performances before the Spring Festival this year, they are practicing songs such as “Yangzhou Minor” and “Barley Wine for Relatives”, which are lively, upbeat, and charming all at once.

吴乐平今年68岁，退休前长期从事教育和新闻出版工作。2015年退休以后，老吴捡起了自己年轻时的爱好，拉起二胡，吹起葫芦丝。2020年左右，他定居在光谷玉龙岛社区清风别墅小区。
Wu Leping is 68 years old and has been engaged in education and press long before his retirement. After retiring in 2015, the elderly Wu picked up his hobbies from when he was young — playing the erhu and cucurbit flute. Around 2020, he settled in Qingfeng Villa Community of Yulong Island Community in the Optics Valley.
“小区里有音乐爱好的人常在一起玩，有时候七八个人，有时候十几个人，吹拉弹唱、自娱自乐。”老吴说，起初练习的地方不固定，后来大家都希望找一个固定的地方当阵地。
“Music lovers in the community often get together, and we sing and play musical instruments to pass time and entertaining ourselves. Sometimes there’s seven or eight people, and other times over a dozen.” Mr. Wu said that they had no fixed place to practice initially, but eventually everyone admitted they hoped to find a fixed place for rehearsals.
“社区和物业特别支持，给我们腾出一间专门的活动室，这样我们的排练地点，排练时间都相对固定下来。”他说。
“The community and property management team have given us special support by providing a designated rehearsal room, so that our location and time for rehearsal are relatively fixed.” he said.
经大家推选，老吴成了这个文艺团队的牵头人。当牵头人就意味着要做不少事情，除了找场地，还要负责编排节目、策划活动、后勤保障等事情，得付出精力。为此，他谢绝了一些文化单位的返聘机会，婉拒了几家培训机构的合作邀请，一门心思当起小区这群文艺爱好者的管家。这个决定使他一年损失几万元，但是他愿意跟大家一起玩。
After a unanimous vote, Mr. Wu became the leader of this literary and art team. Being a leader comes with many responsibilities, and that can be physically taxing. Besides finding a venue, he is also responsible for arranging programs, planning activities, logistics support, among other things. To this end, he declined job opportunities from several companies and training institutions, and instead devoted himself to being the housekeeper of this group music lovers. This decision costs him tens of thousands of yuan of potential annual income, yet he is willing to spend his time with everyone.
就这样，吹拉弹唱的阵地有了，文艺管家有了，定期来玩乐器的退休居民有几十号人，有弹琵琶、古筝的，有吹笛子、唢呐的，还有玩打击乐、拉小提琴的。有的人是慕名跨区而来。
Just like that, they now had a place to rehearse, a skilled group leader, dozens of retired residents as members, with some playing the pipa, guzheng, flute, suona, violin and percussion instruments. Some of the orchestra members were not even local to the area and had to travel to attend.

清风小区是老旧小区，社区和物业提供的活动室面积不大，如果一下子来了几十个人，就容纳不下。大家需要一个更宽敞更合适的排练场地，还有人建议组建一个民间乐团，合演节目。
Qingfeng Community is an old community, and the room provided by the community and the property management team is not particularly large, and could barely fit large numbers exceeding 20. There was a need for a more spacious rehearsal space, with others further suggesting they form a folk orchestra so that they could perform together.
首先得有一个朗朗上口的团队名称。大家集思广益，最后由吴乐平拍板，叫清风乐团。“一来不少玩家住在清风别墅小区，二来我们的音乐好比是清风徐来，让人觉得舒服。”2022年春节后，清风乐团的名称就对外公布了，成员有30多人。
First, they needed a catchy team name. Everyone brainstormed, and finally Wu Leping decided on the name Qingfeng Orchestra. “First, many players live in the Qingfeng Villa Community, and secondly, our music is like a breeze (the word ‘qingfeng’ translates to ‘refreshing breeze’). It makes people feel at ease.” After the Spring Festival in 2022, the name of the Qingfeng Orchestra was announced, and it had over 30 members.
乐团需要一批公用设备。吴乐平算了一下，即使添置音响、谱架、扬琴、打击乐器、凳子等档次一般的必备器材，至少要花费一两万元，吴乐平希望尽量减少其他团员的负担。
The orchestra needed a great deal of equipment. Wu Leping calculated that even if he purchased sub-quality versions of the necessary equipment which included stereos, music stands, dulcimer, percussion instruments, and stools, it would cost at least 10,000 yuan or 20,000 yuan. However, his hope was to minimize the burden of the other members.
吴乐平想了不少办法。他通过自己熟悉的渠道募捐来一架扬琴、一台二手复印机和一批谱架，然后在网上做一些兼职的活儿，用稿费加上自己出的一部分费用，购回了音响、打击乐器等所需器材。
Wu Leping came up with numerous ideas. He raised donations for a dulcimer, a second-hand photocopier and a number of music racks through familiar channels, and then did some part-time work online, using the money and part of his own money to purchase the necessary equipment such as audio and percussion instruments.
“我们要老吴把自己付的费用公开，大家一起分摊，他一直不肯。”乐团打击乐手、分工做后勤服务的老周说，如果算经济账，老吴累计的付出算不过来。
“We want Mr. Wu to disclose how much he pays for the purchases so that everyone can foot the bill, but he won’t budge.” Mr. Zhou, a percussionist in the orchestra in charge of logistics services, said that if you calculate the how much has been spent financially, Mr. Wu's accumulated purchases cannot be calculated.
在吴乐平的影响下，乐团更多成员也各显神通。他们从自己家里拿来复印纸、凳子、电风扇等物品。同时玉龙岛社区尽力给予帮助，陆续提供演出服装、保洁、部分表演餐饮等。
Under the influence of Wu Leping, more members of the orchestra are also showcasing their talents. They brought copying paper, stools, electric fans, and other items from their own homes. At the same time, the Yulong Island community has made every effort to assist, providing performance costumes, cleaning services, and some catering during performances.
乐团还需要适合几十人排练的场地。有乐手在附近找到一个闲置多年的小白楼，只是里面没电没水没厕所，里面垃圾遍地。大家动手，花了六七天将场地清理干净，然后又找人帮忙，牵来电、用上水，拥有了大型场地。
Their team needed a different venue suitable for rehearsals for dozens of people. Some found a small white building that had been idle for many years nearby, but there was no electricity, water and toilet inside, and it was filled with garbage. It took six or seven days to clean up the site before they found someone to help with working on the electricity, water, and soon they had a large venue.
后来在街道的协调下，他们还可以前往当代社区党群服务中心进行活动。

就这样，团队齐了，阵地有了，器材也有了，清风乐团上场了。

这一年多，清风乐团成了吴乐平生活的重心，他每天都在事无巨细地思考着乐团的运行，考虑着团员们的需求，被大家看在眼里，记在心里。
Over the past year, the Qingfeng Orchestra has become the focus of Wu Leping’s life. Every day, he thinks about the orchestra in great detail, considering the needs of the members. All of his hard work never goes unnoticed.
每次排练和演出前后，他都打电话给每位团员，叮嘱他们注意安全；排练结束时间很晚时，他请小区业主帮忙送离家较远的团员……他的细心周到让伙伴们难忘。
Before and after each rehearsal and performance, he calls every member to remind them to be safe; when rehearsals end late, he asks neighbors in his community to transport members whose homes are far away. His caring and thoughtful actions hold a special place in their hearts.
有些乐手眼睛不好，他将乐谱排成竖版一一打印好，裁剪下来，重新贴到纸上排成放大的横版，甚至还想到用记号笔将曲谱标上黄色底纹，方便识谱；遇到上下午连续排练时，他会自费买来盒饭，分给没法回去吃午饭的团员。
Some musicians have bad eyesight, so he prints the sheet music in vertical format, cuts it out, and pastes it on the paper to form an enlarged horizontal format. He even uses a marker to mark the score with yellow shading, making it easier to identify the score. When he had to rehearse non-stop from morning to afternoon, he would buy box lunches at his own expense for members who could not return home for lunch.
“去年冬天的一天，我在去排练的路上不小心摔倒，导致骨折。消息传到老吴那里，他立即安排专人送我去医院，排练一结束就赶到医院看我，安慰我静心休养，早日康复。”古筝乐手金夕一回忆起这件事情，心里都觉得暖暖的。
“One day last winter, I accidentally fell on my way to rehearsals, and got a fracture. When the news reached Mr. Wu, he immediately arranged for someone to take me to the hospital and rushed there himself to see me as soon as the rehearsal was over. He comforted me, told me to rest and wished me a quick recovery.” Recalling the incident, Guzheng player Jin Xi was filled with nothing but warm memories.
乐团打击乐手程老师、周老师、梅老师原来都是歌手，不熟悉打击乐，吴乐平给她们压担子，专门为她们购置打击乐器，鼓励并帮助她们练习打击乐。一开始上台都很紧张，到现在三个人都可以独立自如地完成器乐合奏。
The percussionists of the orchestra, Ms. Cheng, Ms. Zhou, and Ms. Mei, were originally singers and unfamiliar with percussion, so Wu Leping decided to challenge them by purchasing percussion instruments specifically for them. He then went on to encourage and assist them during practice. At the beginning, they found going on stage utterly nerve-wracking. Now all three can complete an instrumental ensemble independently with ease.
在吴乐平的带领下，虽然大伙儿年纪都不小，但排练起来非常认真，就像小学生一样，一笔一笔记下每一个音符，回家后，大家都盯着手机练习伴奏，人人都铆足了劲。周老师当初抱着玩一玩的心态进了乐团，坚持下来后，以前的一些同事都说她变年轻了。
Under the leadership of Wu Leping, although everyone is advanced in age, they take rehearsals very seriously, much like primary school students, noting down every note. Once home, they continue to practice staring at their phones as they follow along the accompaniment. Everyone gives it their all. Ms. Zhou who initially joined the orchestra simply for fun but persisted longer, noticed she now receives compliments from colleagues saying she is aging backwards.
“做乐团当然累，但是我乐意为大家服务，至少证明我的身体还不错嘛。”吴乐平说，退休后老人的生活一般比较空虚，他想努力把乐团营造成大伙儿在社区里的另一个家，让大家充实起来。
“Being in a band is definitely tiring, but I am willing to serve everyone, and at the very least it proves that I am still in good health.” Mr. Wu said that life often becomes mundane and empty after retirement. He hopes the orchestra is like a second home for everyone in the community.

一声声民乐，一场场欢唱，一阵阵清风。现在的清风乐团，已经成为一个初具规模，建制齐全，声部完备，能演奏中型民族器乐曲的民间乐团。乐师们多才多艺，写词作诗、吹拉弹唱、修理乐器、拍摄视频，各有所长，每个人都找到了自己新的价值。
The sound of Folk music and singing resembles that of a refreshing breeze. At present, the Qingfeng Orchestra has begun to take initial shape, with a complete team of performers and a mature sound. The performers are able to play medium-sized national instrumental music. Writing songs and poems, playing instruments, singing, repairing instruments, filming videos, this group’s talented members each boost unique strengths, and each of them have found a new valuable role within the team.
他们尝试用全新的方式演绎经典民乐。吴乐平和乐团首席二胡陈志安、乐团指导兼中提琴李汉帆等人集体创作编排出四声部乐曲《骏马飞奔传喜讯》，该乐曲融合了《骏马奔驰保边疆》《草原英雄小姐妹》《草原上升起不落的太阳》等民乐元素，让器乐高中低声部交织，旋律动听，别有一番风情。
The composition incorporates elements of folk music such as Horses Running to Protect the Frontier, Grassland Hero Little Sister, and The Undying Sun Rises on the Prairie(three Chinese songs with ethnic elements), allowing instrumental music to intertwine the high, middle and low voices, which gives it a distinctive style.
独乐乐不如众乐乐。清风乐团自组建以来，先后在清风别墅、玉龙岛花园、梅南山居等小区和关山公园、韵湖公园等公园，以及光谷区域一些学校，为居民表演了30余场次文艺节目，受到观众的喜爱和欢迎。
Joy shared is joy doubled. Since its establishment, Qingfeng Orchestra has performed more than 30 performances for residents in Qingfeng Villa, Yulongdao Garden, Meinanshan Residence, Guanshan Park, and Yunhu Park, as well as some schools in the Optics Valley area, and has received all out support and approval.
同时，乐团先后参加了中国光谷社区文化节、光谷文明新风文艺展演、武汉优秀社会文艺团队展演等多场由政府部门组织的大型文艺演出和比赛，获得区级奖项。
At the same time, the orchestra has participated in many large-scale performances and competitions organized by departments, such as the China Optics Valley Community Cultural Festival, the Optics Valley Civilization New Style Art Exhibition, the Wuhan Excellent Social Art Team Exhibition, etc., and won awards at the district level.
去年7月份，为了参演中国光谷社区文化节开幕式，乐团的胡冬荣，周邸华等人为保证档期，不仅退掉去外地避暑的火车票，还承担了原定住房的违约费。同年8月份，在恩施州建始县花坪镇避暑的乐团主要成员，还主动参加当地组织的文化节活动，光谷“好声音”在鄂西南响起，武汉、重庆来避暑的游客也说，好久没有享受这么精彩的演出。
Last July, in order to participate in the opening ceremony of the China Guanggu Community Cultural Festival, orchestra members, Hu Dongrong and Zhou Dihua, not only forfeited train tickets for a summer retreat but also covered the penalty fees for their pre-booked accommodation. In August of the same year, the orchestra's key members, who were vacation in Huaping Town, Jianshi County, Enshi Prefecture, actively participated in local cultural festivities. The “Good Voice of Guanggu” resonated in the southwestern Hubei, to which and tourists from Wuhan and Chongqing seeking relief from the summer heat, remarked that they had not enjoyed such a sensational performance in a while.
“组织社区乐团是服务群众的良心活儿，清风乐团成立后，坚持立足社区、服务社区、活跃社区文化生活，传播了优秀民族文化，也推动了社区精神文明建设。”玉龙岛社区负责人尹玉琴说。
“Organizing community orchestras is a selfless service to the community. Since its establishment, the Qingfeng Orchestra has upheld its principles of rooting its place in the community, serving the community, and reinvigorating local culture within the community. Such actions have brought awareness to exemplary ethnic culture and contributed to the construction of overall wellness in the community,” said Yin Yuqin, the head of the Yulong Island community.
