扎根大山三十余载，为村民健康奔走，守护村里三代人的健康……他就是湖北宜昌市长阳土家族自治县榔坪镇乐园村卫生室村医李发从。李发从今年53岁，所在的乐园村有着新中国第一个农村合作医疗试点，是中国农村合作医疗的发源地。他是该村首个受过专业教育的村医，被大家亲切地称为“村级公卫专家”。
Li Facong, the village doctor of Leyuan Village Health Office, Langping Town, Changyang Tujia Autonomous County, Yichang City, Hubei Province, has lived in the mountains more than 30 years, dedicating himself to protecting the health of villagers, thus guarding the health of three generations in the village... Li Facong, 53 years old this year, is based in Leyuan Village, which is the birthplace of China’s first rural cooperative medical system pilot project. He is the first doctor to have received professional education in the village and is affectionately called a “village-level public health expert” by villagers.
他对800多户2000余村民的健康情况了然于心，还定期进行随访、健康指导和送药上门等服务。2022年12月，李发从被评为“中国家庭健康守门人”，系湖北省唯一入选榜单的先进个人，2023年2月又获评“宜昌好人”。
He knows exactly the health conditions of more than 2,000 villagers in over 800 households, and regularly conducts follow-up visits, health counseling and home delivery services of medication. In December 2022, Li Facong was titled the “Chinese Family Health Gatekeeper”, the only exemplary individual from Hubei Province who was included in the list. In February 2023, he was also awarded “Exemplary Citizen of Yichang ”.

“曹婆婆，您今天感觉怎么样？我来给您送药了。”近日，李发从来到83岁的独居老人曹婆婆（化姓）家，为老人测量血压和血糖，详细询问老人的身体情况。曹婆婆患有糖尿病、高血压等多种基础疾病，行走不便。此前，李发从上门巡诊时发现婆婆发烧了，赶紧让她吃退烧药，还提醒她用药事项。之后几天，李发从每天上门为婆婆监测体温，观察其精神状态。
“Grandma Cao, how are you feeling today? I'm here to deliver your medicine”, Li Facong said. Recently, he came to the home of 83-year-old elderly woman Grandma Cao (alias) who lives alone, to measure her blood pressure and blood glucose, and inquire about her health in detail. Grandma Cao suffers from diabetes, hypertension and many other ailments, and has mobility difficulties. Prior, Li Facong had found her with a fever when he visited on a welfare check. He quickly instructed her to take an Antipyretic and reminded her of medical precautions. In the following days, Li Facong visited her every day to check her body temperature and mental wellbeing.

Li Facong’s daily routine consists of paying personal visits to residents living in the mountains and delivering their medication.
李发从所在的乐园村，诞生了新中国第一个农村合作医疗试点。1986年初中毕业后，李发从本有机会出门打工，当时大队医生李兴成要去乡卫生院工作，想找个可靠的接班人。李发从想做一名好医生，为大家解除疾苦。次年春天，他开始跟师学艺。1990年6月，他在长阳县卫校培训结业回到村里，正式成为村医。
The first pilot rural cooperative medical station of China was established in Leyuan Village, which is where Li Facong lives. After graduating from middle school in early 1986, Li Facong had the opportunity to start work in a different city, but instead he chose to succeed the then village doctor, Li Xingcheng, who was promoted to work in the township health center. Li Facong aspired to be a good doctor and relieve his patients of their ailments, thus by the following spring, he enrolled in school and began to receive professional education. In June 1990, he returned to the village after completing his training at the Changyang County Health School and officially became a village doctor.
李发从扎根大山三十余载，挎着药箱守护了村里三代人的健康。乐园村山大人稀，有的村民住得偏远，他要走几公里山路才能到。但无论刮风下雨、严寒酷暑，只要村民有需要，他都会背上药箱出门，村民们都说：“有李医生在，我们很放心。”
Li Facong has been living in the mountainous village for over 30 years, carrying his medicine box as he has safeguarded the health of three generations of villagers. Since Leyuan village is high in the mountains and sparsely populated, some villagers live in remote areas. Therefore, he has to walk long distances in the mountain to visit those villagers. Regardless of wind, rain, cold and heat, as long as the villagers need him, he takes his medicine box and heads out. The villagers always say: “With Doctor Li around, there’s no need to worry.”
今年5月，80岁的独居老人秦爹爹心脏病复发，药用完了，女儿在外打工，急得给李发从打电话。李发从拿起药箱冒着雨就出门了，半小时后把药送到了秦爹爹家中，老人转危为安。
In May this year, the 80-year-old Qin, who lived alone, had a heart attack and was out of medicine. His daughter, who was working away from home, anxiously called Li Facong. He picked up the medicine box and went out in the rain immediately. Half an hour later, he delivered the medicine to grandpa Qin’s home, and the elderly man’s condition took a turn for the good.
自2009年国家实行基本公卫服务以来，李发从更加频繁地奔波于山乡小道。全村800多户2000余人的健康状况，他了然于心，还建立了健康档案，定期上门服务。他自费为500多位老年人购买健康档案袋，方便老人查看检查结果。从陌生到熟悉再到“村级公卫专家”，李发从连续多年被评为基本公共卫生工作先进个人。
Since the implementation of basic public health services in 2009, Li Facong has traveled ever more frequently in the mountains and villages. He knows the health status of more than 2,000 residents in more than 800 households in the village, and has also set up health files and offers regular door-to-door services. At his own expense, he purchased medical file folders for more than 500 elderly people to facilitate the elderly in viewing their examination results. From unfamiliar to familiar and then to “village-level public health expert”, Li Facong has been awarded advanced individual in basic public health work for many consecutive years.

行医30余年，李发从始终为村民健康奔走，深受大家信任和爱戴。“因为自己吃过苦，总能体会别人的难。”李发从尽量给患者用低价药，教村民使用电子医保卡，乐园村报销人次、报销金额常居全镇第一。
Li Facong, who has been practicing medicine for over 30 years, has dedicated himself to the well-being of the villagers and has earned their trust and affection. “Having had a tough life myself, I can always empathize with others’ struggles.” Li Facong explained. He strives to provide patients with affordable medications and instructs villagers on how to use electronic medical insurance cards. As a result, Leyuan Village consistently ranks first in terms of both the number of reimbursed visits and reimbursed amount in medical insurance in the town.
为人医者，需常有悲悯情怀。大吉岭的空巢老人刘道美患有膀胱癌，儿子儿媳意外身故，女儿又住外县。李发从每天去观察老人的病情，至少每2天为老人换一次导尿管、购买生活必需品等，直至老人去世。这些琐碎而感人的小事，让他赢得了村民的好口碑。
As a healthcare provider, it is essential to maintain a sense of compassion and empathy. Liu Daomei, an elderly resident of Dajiling, was diagnosed with bladder cancer and tragically lost her son and daughter-in-law, furthermore, her daughter resides in a remote county. Li Facong observed Liu Daomei’s condition everyday, changing her urinary catheter at least every two days and taking care of her daily necessities until her passing. It is these small yet profoundly moving acts that earned Li Facong the admiration and respect of all the villagers.
治病先治人，治身先治心。有的村民因为一些事情出现血压高、失眠或情绪问题时，李发从不仅治疗病症，还总是耐心调解、宽慰，进行心理疏导。今年69岁的陈婆婆（化姓）性格内向，整日因琐事焦虑不安、情绪低落，患上了抑郁症。家人带她来找李发从，李发从通过药物缓解婆婆的症状，还常劝陈婆婆：“不开心的事情少想，多想开心的事。另外，您闲暇时可以学跳广场舞、唱山歌，看一些有趣的视频等进行自我调节。”
Li Facong understands that to treat an illness, one must first treat the person and their mental health. When some villagers experienced high blood pressure, insomnia, or emotional issues due to certain events, Li Facong not only treated their physical symptoms but also patiently comforted them, providing psychological counseling. Grandma Chen (alias), a 69-year-old woman with an introverted personality, suffered from anxiety and depression due to constant worries and low mood. Her family brought her to seek help from Li Facong. In addition to prescribing medication to alleviate her symptoms, Li Facong always encourages and advises her: “try not to dwell on unhappy things and focus on positive ones. You can also engage in square dancing, singing folk songs, and watching interesting videos during your free time to help improve your mood.”
2022年12月，在北京举行的中国家庭健康大会上，2022年度“中国家庭健康守门人”榜单揭晓，李发从榜上有名，成为湖北省唯一入选榜单的先进个人。
In December 2022, the annual “Guardians of Chinese Family Health” list for the year 2022 was announced at the China Family Health Conference held in Beijing. Li Facong was included on the list and became the only individual from Hubei province to be selected as an outstanding contributor.
