在湖北咸宁市咸安区，一座以萝卜著称的小镇闻名遐迩，这里便是咸安区高桥镇。
Gaoqiao Town,Xian’an District, Xianning City, Hubei Province is famous for radishes.
漫步于萝卜小镇，远处群山连绵，绿树成荫，田间小路纵横交错，交错间溪水潺潺。这里宛若陶渊明笔下的“世外桃源”，恍惚间给人隔世之感。
Walking in the townknown for its radishes, one can see mountains in the distance, roadsshadedby trees, fields crisscrossed by paths, with gurglingcreeks in between. It resembles the otherworldly village in Tao Yuanming’s work, giving one a sense ofsurrealism.
萝卜小镇保留了鄂南乡村的古朴，建筑以农家庭院为主，白墙黛瓦、飞檐翘角，斑驳砖墙、老式磨盘、水缸随处可见，留存岁月痕迹的老物件，不仅锁住了记忆，也留住了乡愁。
The radish town has retained the simplicity of southern Hubei, with its buildings mainly consisting of farmhouse courtyards with white walls and black roof tiles, cornices and warped corners, and mottled brick walls. Vintage millstones and water tanks lie everywhere, relics from the past that have preserved not only memories, but also a sense of nostalgia.
依托独特的地理优势和地方特色，近年来，高桥镇着力打造的“萝卜小镇”，还吸引湖北文旅集团10亿元投资，在高桥镇白水畈建成了面向游客的生态旅游、休闲度假目的地“萝卜公社”。曾经那个担心萝卜销路的白水畈，如今已经蜕变成以萝卜为主题的生态旅游胜地，白水畈华丽的蜕变，让人目不暇接。
Taking advantage ofits unique geographical and local characteristics, in recent years, Gaoqiao Town has made great efforts to build a “Radish Town”， which has also attracted 1 billion yuan in investment from Hubei Cultural Tourism Group to builda“Radish Commune”， an eco-tourism and holiday destination for tourists, in Baishui Fan, Gaoqiao Town.

6月22日，适逢端午佳节，萝卜公社热闹非凡，纵横交错的田间小路出现一个个小摊子，这里好像变成了繁荣的市集中心，熙熙攘攘的人群中有年轻的情侣、有带着孩子的家长、有结伴而游的三五好友，无一例外的是，他们脸上都洋溢着幸福的笑容。
On June 22, theday of theDragon Boat Festival, the Radish Communewas lively with several small stalls appearingalong the path of the field.It seemed to have become a booming market with a bustling crowd comprised of couples, parents,children, and groups of friends.Their faces were all lit upwith happy smiles.
端午节前后，景区特举办了一系列有意义的活动，如沐兰汤、挂菖蒲、萝卜集市、粽子DIY、炸麻花、萝卜丸子、腌制鸭蛋等。
Before and after the Dragon Boat Festival, the scenic spot held a series of activities, such as cooking Mulan soup, hanging calamus, a radish market, and preparing various kinds of traditional food including zongzi, mahua, radish meatballs, and pickled duck eggs.
活动现场，各色美食让人垂涎欲滴，仿佛置身“吃货”天堂。许多项目与美食有关，且与手工制作进行了巧妙融合，玩出新花样，让游客既体验手工乐趣又能大饱口福。
At the event, various kinds of food turned the scene into a “foodie”paradise. Many of the projects were related to food, and cleverly integrated with hand-making goods, integrating unique activities to ensurevisitors can simultaneously experience the fun of hand-makingand eating good food.
为给假期游客带来不一样的观光体验，咸宁萝卜公社景区特别举办了露营音乐节活动。音乐节现场，景区工作人员精心布置了绚丽灯光和帐篷，不少游客从周边城市赶来，与田园为伴，奔赴“向往的生活”。
In order to provide a different sightseeing experience to tourists during the holiday, Xianning Radish Commune scenic spot held a camping music festival. At the music festival site, the staff of the scenic spot carefully arranged strikinglights and tents.Many tourists came from the surrounding cities to enjoy the countryside and experience the “dream life”.
夜幕降临，萝卜小镇多彩绚丽的灯光陆续亮起，如宝石般点缀着小镇。配合着动感的音乐前奏，萝卜公社音乐节正式开始！活动现场热火朝天，节目丰富，有歌曲演唱也有舞蹈表演。串场时，主持人用端午节有关的历史文化知识与观众交流互动，并以“粽子香包”作为小礼物。
As night fell, colorful lights successively lit up the radish town, resemblinggems dottingthe town. With the dynamic music prelude, the Radish Commune Music Festival officially began! The event was in full swing with a variety of programs, including singing and dancing performances. During the visit, the host used the historical and cultural information pertaining the Dragon Boat Festival to interact with the audience, who were gifted“Zongzi sachets”.
“这次和朋友一起过来，白天参加了许多有意思的活动，同时也大饱口福，晚上又有音乐节让我大饱眼福，现在整个人都得到了彻底放松，以后空闲的时候也会经常过来玩，放松身心！”来自武汉的游客陈女士开心地说。
“This time, I came with my friends.We participated in many interesting activities during the day, enjoyed a lot of food, and a music festival in the evening.I feelcompletely relaxed, and will come here often whenever I am free!”Ms. Chen, a tourist from Wuhan, said happily.
博士工作站里的萝卜“致富经”
Radishes are “enriched”in the PhD work station
白萝卜“生沙壤者甘而脆，生瘠土者坚而辣”。在高桥河的滋润下，白水畈村出产的白萝卜皮薄肉嫩，汁多味美。这无疑是白水畈得天独厚的优势。
It is said that if grown insandy soil,radishes are sweet and crispy, if grown in barrensoil, they are toughand spicy. Nourished by the Gaoqiao River, the radish in Village has thin skin and tenderjuicyflesh. This is undoubtedly the natural advantage of using white water.
早在唐代，这里就有种植萝卜的历史，清朝时期，白水畈萝卜更是作为贡品进入皇宫，被誉为“仙萝”。这个雅称无疑是一块金字招牌。在今天，想用好这块金字招牌就必须提高萝卜的品质。
As early as the Tang Dynasty, there has been a history of growing radishes here, and in the Qing Dynasty, radishes were sent to the imperial palace as tribute, known asthe“fairy radish”. This elegant name is undoubtedly a glorious title. Today, if one hopesto make good use of this title, the quality of the radishes ought to be improved.
于是，高桥镇政府与湖北省农科院合作，建立了博士工作站，对白水畈萝卜品种进行了提纯复壮和优中选优。改良品种后的萝卜产量从每亩3000多斤增产至每亩10000多斤。
Therefore,the local administration in Gaoqiao town, in cooperation with the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, set up a PhD workstation to reviveand improve the radish varieties with the end goal of selecting the best of the best. After varietieswere improved, the yield increased from more than 3000 jin per mu to more than 10,000 jin per mu(1500 kg to 5000 kg per one fifteenth hectare).
在此基础上，推进萝卜标准化生产，用机械代替人工耕种，经机械深耕、旋耕、起垄后，土地平整为深25厘米、宽35厘米的条块状，并统一施肥、统一管理，这样种出来的白水畈萝卜大小、口感、质地趋于统一，商品属性大大提升。同时延长了产业链，以萝卜为原材料制作的萝卜籽油、萝卜盆土栽等高附加值产品也渐渐出现。
On this basis, standardized production of radish is being promoted, and manual farming is being replaced by machinery. After mechanical deep ploughing, rotary ploughing and furrowing, the land is flattened into strips 25cm deep and 35cm wide, and fertilization and management are conducted in a unified manner. In this way, the size, taste and texture of whitewater radishes tends to be uniform, and its overall properties are greatly improved. At the same time, the industrial chain has been extended, and high value-added products such as radish seed oil and radish pot made using radishes as raw materials have gradually appeared.
从2020年开始，高桥镇白水畈的萝卜籽油已悄然进入市场，每亩地可产200斤萝卜籽，按出油率38%计算，1亩地能产70多斤萝卜籽油，市场售价每斤高达158元。依托正确的政策指引，科学的发展思路，当地萝卜产业得到了振兴。
Since 2020, radish seed oil in Baishuiban, Gaoqiao Town, has quietly entered the market, producing 200 jins （100 kg） of radish seed per mu of land, calculated according to 38% oil yield, 1 mu of land can produce more than 70 jins （35 kg） of radish seed oil, and the market price is as high as 158 yuan per jin （500g). Relying on correct policy guidance and scientific development ideas, the local radish industry has been revitalized.
诗意田园中探寻乡村振兴密码

风里已经有了夏天的味道，耳边也传来阵阵蝉鸣，淌着潺潺流水的湖畔，原野上坠落星星点点的素雅小花，飞鸟们吟咏着田园风光。这里有陶渊明笔下的“采菊东篱下，悠然见南山”的潇洒闲适。抬头见山，低头见水，坐落于山水间的萝卜公社早已成了人们心中的度假胜地。
As the smell of summer fills the air, the sound of cicadas travels to one’s ears, wave upon wave. The lake is ever-flowing with gurgling water, little elegant flowers dot the fields, and birds chant in this pastoral scenery. This is the peaceful and carefree scene described in Tao Yuanming's poem where he wrote: “Gathering chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, I catch sight of the southern mountain”. Looking up to a view of mountains and looking down to water, the Radish Commune, located between mountains and rivers, has long become an ideal holiday destination to most.
极目新闻记者从景区获悉，为迎接漫长夏日，咸宁萝卜公社后续还将开展夜游活动，届时，捉鸡、捕鱼、钓虾等趣味活动，将在夏季清凉的夜晚进行。

近年来，借着精准扶贫和乡村振兴的政策东风，高桥镇从一棵萝卜做起，以白水畈萝卜为核心品牌，依托萝卜公社景区，正不断吸引着八方来客。

以擦亮“萝卜品牌”为抓手，以发展“萝卜产业”为路径，以打造“萝卜小镇”为目标，咸安区高桥镇还先后获得湖北省先进基层党组织、湖北省旅游名镇、咸宁市推进乡村振兴战略十强乡镇等荣誉称号，一棵萝卜的文章越做越大。
Taking refining the “radish brand” as the starting point, developing the “radish industry” as the path and building a “radish town” as the goal, Gaoiao Town in Xian'an District has also won honorary titles such as Advanced Grassroots Party Organizations in Hubei Province, Famous Tourist Towns in Hubei Province and Top Ten Towns in Xianning City promoting the rural revitalization strategy. All owing to the humble radish, this radish town is becoming increasingly well-known.
