清晨六点，湖北省秭归县两河口镇两河村的雾气还没散尽，身高仅1.28米的村医王驹已跨上定制矮体摩托，又开始了一天的巡诊。自1989年从卫校毕业回村行医以来，他在这片群山环抱的山乡已坚守38年，累计出诊6000余次、服务乡亲3万余人次，骑坏4辆摩托车、磨穿上百双胶鞋，被村民亲切地称为“大山里的小摩托”。
At 6 a.m., thick mist still hangs over Lianghe Village in Lianghekou Town, Zigui County, Hubei Province. Standing merely 1.28 metres tall, village doctor Wang Ju mounts his custom-adapted low-profile motorcycle and sets out for another full day of home medical visits. Upon graduating from a secondary health vocational school in 1989, Wang returned to his native village to practise medicine. For 38 years, he has remained dedicated to this secluded mountain-locked community. He has logged more than 6,000 house-call trips, delivered medical care to over 30,000 local villagers, worn out four motorcycles and hundreds of pairs of rubber-soled work shoes. He is fondly known among locals as the “Little Motorcycle of the Mountains”.

两河村山高路陡，2000多名村民散落在各个山坳，出一趟门要翻好几道岭。王驹患有侏儒症，自小得到乡里乡亲照顾，这份恩情让他打定主意“学医报乡”。普通摩托车他够不着，便专门找人定制了这辆矮体摩托——车身只有50厘米高，脚尖刚好着地，小摩托陪他跑遍了村里的每一条山路。
Lianghe Village is nestled among steep mountains, with more than 2,000 villagers scattered across the hollows. A single trip out often means crossing several ridges. Wang, who has dwarfism, grew up under the care of his fellow villagers. That kindness inspired him to “study medicine and return to serve his hometown.” Since he could not safely ride a standard-sized motorcycle, he had a customized low-frame one built -- just 50 centimeters high, allowing his toes to touch the ground. That little motorcycle has carried him along every mountain path in the village.
“王医生来了！”听到熟悉的引擎声，72岁的留守老人谭婆婆早早拄着拐杖等在门口。每到一户，王驹先坐下来跟老人拉拉家常，再仔细量血压、测血糖，问清近期吃了些什么，把用药注意事项一项一项交代明白。村里留守老人多，不少人腿脚不便，上门回访问诊成了他雷打不动的日常。
“Dr. Wang is here!” Hearing the familiar engine, 72-year-old Grandma Tan, who lives alone, was already waiting at the door with her cane. At each home, Wang first sits down for a casual chat, then carefully checks blood pressure and blood sugar, asks about recent meals, and explains medication instructions one by one. With so many elderly left-behind residents in the village, many with limited mobility, these home visits have become his unwavering daily routine.
忙完外勤回到卫生室，等候就诊的村民已排起了队。王驹坐到诊桌前，耐心问诊、仔细答疑，一忙就是大半天。作为家庭医生，他对村民健康档案实行三色管理，重点盯防心脑血管疾病高危人群，定期开展健康干预。为了随时响应求助，他索性搬进了卫生室住下，深夜一个电话打来，不论路途远近，披上衣服就出门。
After finishing his house calls and returning to the clinic, Wang found a line of villagers already waiting for him. He sat down at his desk, patiently inquired about each patient's condition, and answered their questions in detail--often busying himself for the better part of the day. As a family doctor, he manages the villagers' health records with a three-tier color-coded system, keeping a close watch on those at high risk for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and conducting regular health interventions. To ensure he could respond to calls for help at any time, he moved into the clinic and made it his home. Whenever the phone rings late at night, no matter how far the distance, he throws on his coat and heads out the door.
个头不大，担当不小。摩托车的轰鸣声穿梭于大山沟壑，是两河村民心中最踏实的信号。如今59岁的王驹临近退休，问及退休后的打算，他咧嘴一笑：“只要村里还有人等着看病，我就接着干。”
Though small in stature, he bears great responsibility. The rumble of his motorcycle echoing through the mountain ravines is the most reassuring sound to the villagers of Lianghe. Now 59 years old and approaching retirement, when asked about his plans after stepping down, he grins and says, “As long as there are villagers waiting to see a doctor, I'll keep going.”
